FOCUS
Series TRANSIENCE
The collection of paintings TRANSIENCE is about the hectic pace of this time in which we keep all the signs high. Who doesn't recognize that? The hustle and bustle of everyday life with all kinds of options.
In the painting FOCUS I have depicted the hectic pace by pasting a jumble of clippings from the Financieel Dagblad, the penal code, the art newspaper and a philosophical magazine on my linen canvas. This diversity of information gives a tangible indication of what is constantly flying through your head. The financial issues, the rules we 'must' follow, the aesthetic side of life and then also wanting to know everything about our 'I'. In the meantime I was still looking for a model that completed my story. Someone who radiated the tranquility to stay close to yourself in this hectic pace. During a coffee break in front of my studio, our parcel deliverer Donovan walked by. I shot up and ran after him... Not much later I had my model. The painting turned out exactly as I envisioned it. And when I was almost done the painting gave me its title. Near his right eye is an article with the word 'FOCUS'.
