UBUNTU Series

My UBUNTU collection is inspired by the philosophy of Nelson Mandela. The South African wisdom that we are all connected: WE is more than I. For this series I went on a journey with my brushes. The emphasis is on so many beautiful, different people living together in one world.

In the 'I' era in which we now live, I think it is important to show how beautiful WE are.

Hekima means wisdom in Swahili. In Africa, the older woman is valued for her wisdom and life experience. Hekima is painted with oil paint and acrylic on linen with coconut hair and remains of coconut. The coconut is the fruit that gives us the most: food, drink and tools.
