UBUNTU Series

My UBUNTU collection is inspired by the philosophy of Nelson Mandela. The South African wisdom that we are all connected: WE is more than I.

For this series I went on a journey with my brushes. The emphasis is on so many beautiful, different people living together in one world. In the 'I' era we live in now, I think it's important to show how beautiful WE are.Sauda is painted with oil paint and gold paint on linen with porcelain clay that cracks. Just like what happens to the earth in parts of Africa due to prolonged heat and drought. The color gold and transparent oxide red reflect the color of her beautiful skin and the African earth.
